As a result, my sense of Peace and general contentment with life has risen massively.
Now, I’m not proclaiming to be some spiritual master or happiness expert in any way, but I what I will do today is share the biggest insight I’m really starting to experience pretty fuckin’ deeply in my everyday life.
It is this:
YOU ARE NOT YOUR THOUGHTS AND EMOTIONS.
You do not need to “identify” yourself with the thoughts that arise in your mind, and the emotions that your body produces to accompany them,
Doing so only makes you a quivering bundle of unhappiness, anxiety and insecurity.
Your mind is like any other organ, most of the time.
Just as YOU don’t pump your blood, or digest your food…
Your mind too, unless consciously directed by yourself, does it’s own thing.
It thinks it’s own thoughts.
What happens in your mind is mostly a repetition of already conditioned thoughts, which are responsible for most (if not all) of your unhappiness.
And the moment you can OBSERVE YOUR THOUGHTS FOR WHAT THEY ARE, you can literally step out of your unhappiness.
Sounds like a big promise, eh?
Yup, but once you begin to see that suffering is caused by your mind, and NOT by external events, life becomes, well, a lot fuckin’ better.
As I said, I’m no master…
I’m just experiencing this change now, which is why I’m writing about it.
I recommend you get onto Sir Tolle’s works (I’ve noticed the audiobooks to be most effective personally).
